Dr. Blane Lowe is an independent veterinarian with a passion for beef production medicine, teaching and business. Dr. Lowe received his DVM degree from Kansas State University in 1984. He worked in two rural practices in Cozad and O’Neill, Nebraska following graduation. Dr. Lowe returned to Kansas State University in the fall of 1988 to pursue graduate studies in Physiology. During his graduate studies, Dr. Lowe participated as a member of the faculty, teaching Gross Anatomy I & II, Physiology and Clinical Nutrition. Dr. Lowe consistently received the top teaching evaluations within the Department of Anatomy and Physiology. After receiving his PhD in comparative respiratory physiology in 1994, Dr. Lowe spent 3 years as a Technical Services Veterinarian for Mallinckrodt Veterinary Inc. with responsibility for sales and product support, technical expertise, adverse event reporting and complaint resolution in the western half of the United States. 

He joined Pfizer in the spring of 1997 as a Senior Clinical Investigator in the Central Research division in Groton, Connecticut where he was involved with licensing studies for Advocin and exploratory development work with Draxxin. Dr. Lowe transferred to Pfizer Animal Health in 1998 and his willingness to help people solve their problems contributed to the growth and success of Pfizer Animal Health including the transition to Zoetis. 

Dr. Lowe was selected for Pfizer’s Global Health Fellows program in 2006. The Global Health Fellows program is a philanthropic effort of Pfizer Inc. to provide medical and public health resources to developing countries around the world. As a Global Health Fellow, Dr. Lowe served as the Avian Influenza Advisor to the United Nations Development Programme in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Early in 2020 Dr. Lowe retired from Zoetis and remains active in his support of the Beef Cattle Industry and those people who dedicate their time and energy to producing the world’s finest beef.
